What is Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
The most rare and pure Australian South Sea pearls in the world are sustainably grown here at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Visit our pearl farm at the tip of the beautiful Dampier Peninsula – one of the last pristine and remote marine wilderness frontiers in the world.
Why not stay with us in this incredible and unique place in Australia. We offer glamping accommodation, stay at one of the original pearling shacks, or stay at one of our camping or caravan sites – we offer something to suit every type of traveler. We also have a restaurant and pool for you to relax by and enjoy the panoramic views.
Learn about the epic origins of the Australian pearl from it’s Indigenous beginnings through to the four generations of the Brown family who have been pearling and living here since 1946. We offer incredible land and sea based tours for our visitors.
We are about 200kms north of Broome, which is about a 2.5 hour drive.
What can you do at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
We offer multiple experiences for our guests visiting Cygnet Bay which include land-based and sea-based tours.

We also have multiple partner tours, including Horizontal Falls tours – as we are the closest land base to this natural phenomenon.
How far is Cygnet Bay from Broome?
Cygnet Bay is located 200kms north of Broome. It’s about a 2½ hour drive from Broome.
What is the road like from Broome to Cygnet Bay?
The road from Broome to Cygnet Bay is sealed, is about a 2½ hour drive from Broome, making it accessible for 2WD and 4WD.
The last 3km along the turnoff to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm is a compacted pindan dirt road that is regularly maintained, however it is unsealed with a number of water diversion bumps. It is suitable for 2WD access with reasonable clearance.
Please contact us directly during Wet Season to advise on 2WD access during this period. 4WD is recommended during the Wet Season.
If I don’t have a car, how can I get to Cygnet Bay?
From April to October we offer bus transfers between Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm and Broome, which includes complimentary airport, hotel or Chinatown pickup. Visit the link to learn more.

We have an onsite airstrip for private planes. Please contact reception for more information.
We don’t offer transfers to and from reception to your accommodation. It is about a 1km walk between reception and Diver’s Creek accommodation. If arriving by transfer or plane, we recommend staying in a Pearler’s Village Safari Tent.
Our all inclusive 2 night packages include transfers from Broome and return to Broome.

Is it safe to swim at Cygnet Bay?
We do not advise swimming at the beach at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. This is because we are a working pearl farm, and because there can be dangers in the water. We advise all guests to be cautious of salt-water crocodiles and other sea creatures that can be found in our waters such as sharks and jellyfish.
Guests staying in our accommodation have access to a private beach further away from the main pearl farm. We still encourage all guests to practice utmost caution.
Are there crocodiles?
You will need to be cautious of salt-water crocodiles in the waters of Cygnet Bay. Although rarely seen they are found seasonally and we advise to always be crocodile safe.
Where are the closest shops, do we need to bring food with us?
There are small shops located at both One Arm Point and Beagle Bay. The closest accessible supermarket is Broome (2 hours by car) so if you’re not planning on eating all meals at our restaurant, we recommend bringing your own food.
Can I see the 'Staircase to the Moon' from Cygnet Bay?
Yes! The best place to view the staircase to the moon at Cygnet Bay is at our lookout! Ask our friendly staff to point you in the right direction. We run a special event on some staircase to the moon nights called Lunar Bar. Find out more about this event here.
Can I bring my dog or pet to Cygnet Bay?
We welcome on leash pets for day visits in our picnic areas and to stay in our camp/van sites here at Cygnet Bay, however we do not allow pets in our accommodation or at our restaurant. Please ask our staff for more direction to pet friendly areas. You will need to provide your own pet waste bags.
Do mobile phones work at Cygnet Bay?
Mobile phones on the Telstra network will have signal at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm.
Is there internet access?
We have free WIFI access for guests at our restaurant and internet is accessible for Telstra network users.
Is the water safe to drink?
All our water at Cygnet Bay is potable.
Where can I get fuel?
We have unleaded and diesel fuel available for purchase at Cygnet Bay! Ask our friendly staff for directions to the unmanned automatic fuel bowsers. There is also fuel available at Djarindjin roadhouse.
Are we allowed in the Indigenous communities?
Although the Indigenous communities on the Dampier Peninsula were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the majority of these communities are now open. Please contact communities directly via phone to find out where you can go.
What should we expect with insects and other wildlife?
Insects and wildlife are abundant in the Kimberley, so guests should always be aware of frogs, snakes, lizards, mosquitoes and sandflies. We recommend guests bring insect repellent to guard from insect bites, mosquitoes are usually more active in the wet season.
Are there marine stingers?
Marine stingers can be found at Cygnet Bay in the wet season.
What’s the weather like?
As Cygnet Bay is situated in the Kimberley, visitors will experience the wet season or the dry season. The dry season is April-November and during this season the temperature is mild and ideal for holiday-goers! The wet season is December-March and is very hot and humid. During this season insects are abundant so we recommend guests bring extra insect repellent.

Can I fly via personal aircraft when visiting Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
You most definitely can fly to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm via your own aircraft, and land at our airstrip. This does incur a $60 landing and $60 transfer fee each way from the airstrip to Reception, or from Reception to airstrip. Please click here for further information regarding aircrafts and our airstrip.
We do encourage those staying overnight with us and who are coming via personal aircraft to book our Pearler’s Village Safari Tents for best accessibility and to be near the hub of the farm. All amenities are walking distance at the Pearler’s Village – and this is best suited for those without cars. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for landing coordinates and further information.
Is there internet or WIFI access at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
For Telstra network users, there is internet service available. Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm does not have WIFI access for guests within their accommodation sites however there is WIFI available for guests at the Homestead restaurant. Please ask one of our wonderful team members.
OUR ACCOMMODATION
Do I need a 4WD?
If you are staying with us, you will need a 4WD to access any Diver’s Creek accommodation. If you are coming up for a day trip, or staying in our new Pearler’s Village Safari Tents or Caravan Sites you can come with a 2WD or 4WD.
What is the difference between Pearlers Village vs Divers Creek?

Is wifi available in your glamping tents?
For Telstra network users, there is internet service available. Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm does not have WIFI access for guests within their glamping tents, however there is WIFI available for guests at the Homestead restaurant. Please ask one of our wonderful team members.
Is there air-conditioned accommodation available at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
Skippers, Stone House and Diver’s Quarters Pearler’s Shacks, Pearler’s Village Safari Tents, and Master Pearler’s Private Retreat have air-conditioning in the bedrooms. Learn about our accommodation options at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm here.
How many guests can stay in the shacks and tents?
- Our Pearler’s Village Safari Tents, Pearler’s Village Eco Tents, Deluxe Bayview Safari Tents, Bayview Safari Tents, Bush Tents and Skippers Pearler’s Shack all sleep max 2 people.
- Our Family Safari Tents, Pearler’s Village Family Eco Tents and Stone House Pearler’s Shack sleep max 4 people.
- Diver’s Creek Campsites and caravan sites sleep max 6 people (1 vehicle per site).
- Diver’s Quarters Pearler’s Shack sleeps max 10 people.
- Master Pearler’s Private Retreat sleeps max 14 people.

Do you provide linen and towels?
Yes, we provide linen and towels for all accommodation except campsites and van sites.
Are the pearlers shacks and tents self-contained?
Our Pearler’s Shacks are self contained. Guests staying in our Safari and Bush Tents will have access to the closely situated camp kitchen for all cooking requirements. Safari Tents & Pearlers Shacks have private bathrooms (excluding Bush Tents).
Can I build a campfire?
Due to environmental factors, the building of campfires are prohibited.
How does the power work? Can I use my hair dryer, kettle, microwave?
Due to Cygnet Bay generating our own power, we do ask guests only use the provided kettles and microwaves, and refrain from using hairdryers or any high powered (heating) electronics for the duration of their stay.
Can I use my generator in an unpowered site?
Yes you can! Generators are allowed to be used between the hours of 8am – 6pm.
What time is check in and check out?
Accommodation check-in is from 2pm, camp/van site check-in is from 11am and check-out is by 10am. We cannot guarantee any early check-in requests, however guests arriving early are free to use the pool, restaurant and join a tour. Guests should check at reception on arrival and may be checked in early if their room/site is ready for check-in. Sorry, we cannot accommodate late check-out requests.
Do you have a laundry machine?
There are two laundry machines available for our guests, located in our Pearler’s Village (2WD + 4WD campsite). Unfortunately, at this stage we do not have a laundry machine available in our Diver’s Creek (4WD campsite).
Please note, when using the laundry machine’s you will need to use $2 coins only and each load costs $8. Our Reception has $2 coins if you require change. We also offer washing powder sachets for $1 per sachet at our Reception.
The operating hours for our laundry machines are between 7am and 6pm.
What is the difference between Pearler's Village Safari Tents and Eco Tents?
The Pearler’s Village Safari Tents were established in 2022, whereas our Pearler’s Village Eco Tents have just been launched in 2024!
The main difference between our Safari and Eco tents is that our Eco tents have a pedestal fan instead of air-conditioning.
All differences include:
- Air-conditioning
- Ceiling Fan
- No Pedestal Fan
- King Bed
- No Air-conditioning
- No Ceiling Fan
- Pedestal Fan
- Queen Bed
Both types of accommodation types do include an ensuite, bar fridge, and power & water.
Do you charge a cleaning fee or bond?
Yes, a refundable $250 security bond applies to all accommodation bookings. This is held temporarily and refunded after your stay, pending inspection. Additionally, for guests staying in the Diver’s Pearling Shack or Master Pearler’s Residence, a one-off $250 cleaning fee is required due to the extra time and care needed to prepare these historic homes between stays.
These fees help us maintain the high standard of care across our heritage and resort-style accommodation.
BOATING
Can I launch my boat from the beach at Cygnet Bay?
This is available for in-house guests only. This is not a public boat ramp. All boat launches must be registered at reception.
Boats must be retrieved each night – there are no extended voyages from Cygnet Bay.
If you require boat launch or retrieval services, you will need to pre-book this as it is tidal and personnel dependent. The fee for launch or retrieval is $230 each way. We do not offer car or boat trailer storage so guests will need to park on their paid accommodation sites.
If you require emergency retrieval, the fee for this is $1000.
Check-out policy is relevant to all guests and vehicles cannot be left on accommodation sites after checkout.
Can I anchor my boat at Cygnet Bay?
Yes. Cygnet Bay does ask that any incoming boats contact the marine crew ahead of time at marine@cygnetbaypearlfarm.com.au so they can instruct the best place to drop anchor and how to navigate through the pearl farm long lines.
Can I launch my boat if I'm not a guest at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
Day visitors are not permitted to launch their boat from Cygnet Bay. Launching is reserved for in-house guests only.
Please keep in mind that we do not have a sealed launching area, all launching is via our beach.
How do I launch my boat at Cygnet Bay?
Here’s a step by step guide on how to launch your boat:
- Book your stay at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Only those staying in our Pearler’s Village site are able to facilitate a boat while staying with us.
- Register your boat and launch at reception
- If you require assistance to launch, book in a launch with our reception team. Please keep in mind there are costs involved in this process, and when choosing a time to launch please consider the tides.
Are there any public boat ramp facilities at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
There are no public boat ramp facilities at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm.
Our boat ramp is private, not sealed, and only accessed via the beach by in-house guests only.
Broome and Derby are the closest public boat ramps.
How much is the launching and retrieval fee?
The launching and retrieval fee is $230 each way.
This does not include emergency retrieval which is $1000.

The Pearler’s Village sites are the only sites that facilitate boats.
Unfortunately, our Diver’s Creek and Master Pearler’s sites do not facilitate boats.
What do I need to know about the tides if I'm launching my boat at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm?
Boating requires careful attention on the Dampier Peninsula due to the region’s extreme tides. The difference between low and high tide can be over 10 metres, especially during spring tides.
It is recommended to launch and retrieve on a mid to high tide.
Please check tide charts, understand how tides can affect your navigation and be aware or potential risks involved with rapidly changing water levels.
OUR HOMESTEAD RESTAURANT
Do you have a restaurant?
Yes we do!
During the dry season, we are open for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (bookings essential for lunch & dinner) 7 days a week.
During the Wet season, we are open Wednesday to Sunday (bookings essential for dinner and must be made prior to 2pm).
Can I book a table?
We are open to walk-ins for lunch and breakfast. Lunch bookings are preferred and dinner bookings are essential.
You cannot book a table for breakfast – just pop in and we’ll find a table for you.
Do you serve kids' meals?
Yes we do, you will find kid’s meals on both our lunch and dinner menus.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
Guests staying in accommodation are welcome to bring their own beverages to accommodation. We have a fully licenced restaurant for day visitors and people dining at the restaurant (strictly no BYO to the pool).
Do you have a swimming pool?
Yes! In fact, it’s the only pool on the Dampier Peninsula.
Can day-trippers use the swimming pool and borrow pool towels?
All guests are welcome to use our pool. Pool towels are only available for in-house guests, day visitors will need to bring their own towels.

Should I prebook my tours?
Some Pearl Farm Discovery Tours can be booked on arrival, but we recommend booking in advance to secure your favoured tour and time slot. Our Sea Safari’s are tidal dependent and should be booked in advance as spaces are limited. Book your tours here.

Where do your pearls come from?
Our Australian South Sea pearls are cultured and harvested in the pristine waters of our Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm on the Kimberley Coast of WA, while our Akoya pearls are located within the stunning estuaries of our Broken Bay Pearl Farm on the Central Coast of NSW.
With each purchase of Pearls of Australia jewellery, you will be provided with a Certificate of Authenticity to guarantee the provenance and quality of the pearls.
